To best capture his story, DJ The Prophet collaborated with the Netherlands’ most renowned dance scene author: Arne van Terphoven. Although the hardstyle genre was new to the music journalist, Van Terphoven had previously written extensively about Multigroove, ID&T, and Awakenings. For 'UIT HET HARD,' Van Terphoven fully immersed himself in illegal raves, hardcore, and hardstyle.
Van Terphoven, who previously announced that this would be his last book on dance history, found working with DJ The Prophet particularly intriguing. 'It is rare to encounter a person who has witnessed the transformation of the dance industry so closely and played such a significant role as an artist while also being deeply involved in the development of hardcore, hardstyle, ID&T, Q-dance, Multigroove, you name it.'
Unlike Van Terphoven’s previous books on the music industry, which often focused on sex, drugs, and rock-'n'-roll, ‘UIT HET HARD’ offers a refreshing look at the business side of the hardstyle genre. The book is filled with insights into how the Netherlands developed into the world’s premier hard dance country. The history of DJ The Prophet is intertwined with the evolution of ID&T, the gabber era, and later Q-dance.
In addition to DJ The Prophet himself, ‘UIT HET HARD’ features many big names from the Dutch dance scene. From Duncan Stutterheim (ID&T) to Headhunterz, Brennan Heart, D-Block & S-te-Fan, and Wildstylez. From Wouter Tavecchio (Q-dance) to Ilja Reiman (Multigroove), they all have something to say about him.
